THE CURRENT STATE OF UZBEK DIALECTS AND THEIR ROLE IN YOUTH SPEECH (ON THE EXAMPLE OF SURKHANDARYA AND KHOREZM REGIONS)

This article examines the role of modern Uzbek dialects, specifically in the speech of youth from the Surkhandarya and Khorezm regions, within the context of globalization and information technology using a sociolinguistic approach. Based on the results of a remote survey, a comparative analysis of lexical (e.g., «narvon/zangi», «ashkadi/kadi») and grammatical (e.g., the «-jak» affix) differences between the dialects of the two regions, as well as the socio-psychological attitudes of youth towards their native dialects, is conducted. The research findings indicate that dialects are not disappearing; rather, they are adapting to digital spaces (social networks) as a form of «cyber-dialectology,» serving as a tool for regional identity awareness.
