A LINGUISTIC COMPARATIVE STUDY OF ARTISTIC LANGUAGE, IMAGERY, AND SPEECH IN E. A. POE’S “TAMERLANE” AND CHRISTOPHER MARLOWE’S “TAMBURLAINE THE GREAT”

The article presents a comparative analysis of the linguopoetic features of the image of Tamerlane in Edgar Allan Poe’s poem “Tamerlane” and Christopher Marlowe’s drama “Tamburlaine the Great.” The study is based on linguopoetics, cognitive linguistics, and discourse approaches. The findings show that in Poe’s work, the image of Tamerlane is expressed through inner spiritual tragedy, remorse, and melancholic reflection, whereas in Marlowe’s drama, he appears as a symbol of absolute power and titanism. The article reveals the mechanisms of artistic thinking formation through linguistic means.
