THEOLINGUISTICS: STAGES OF FORMATION AND DEVELOPMENT IN WORLD AND UZBEK LINGUISTICS

The article analyzes the formation of theolinguistics as an independent branch of linguistics, the necessity of its emergence, and the stages of its development in both world and Uzbek linguistics. Theolinguistics studies the relationship between language and religion, the linguistic expression of religious thought, and the semantic and linguocultural features of religious texts, religious discourse, religious terminology, and phraseological units. The article discusses the introduction of the term “theolinguistics” into scientific circulation by Jean-Pierre van Noppen, as well as the contribution of the studies conducted by N.M. Uluqov, M.E. Umarxo‘jayev, M.R. Galiyeva, and Sh.M. Sultonova to the development of this field in Uzbek linguistics. The analysis demonstrates that theolinguistic approaches in Uzbek linguistics initially developed within the study of religious vocabulary and religious texts, and later advanced to the stages of religious terminography, religious style, religious phraseology, and linguocultural analysis.
