SOMATIC CODE OF CULTURE IN TRANSLATION LEXICOGRAPHY ON THE MATERIAL OF RUSSIAN UZBEK PHRASEOLOGICAL DICTIONARIES

The paper examines the ways of rendering Russian somatic phraseological units with the components heart, head and hand into Uzbek through lexicographic material. Following V.V.Krasnykh and M.L.Kovshova the somatic code of culture is understood as an archaic sign system in which the bodily experience of man becomes material for the categorization of emotion, thought and action. The analysis of dictionary entries of five bilingual lexicographic sources reveals three stable types of correspondences unevenly distributed across the three somatic lexemes.
