METHODS USED IN THE TRANSLATION OF METAPHORS AND SIMILES IN THE EPIC POEM “FARHAD AND SHIRIN”

This article analyzes the translation methods used in rendering metaphors and similes from Alisher Navoi's epic poem “Farhad and Shirin” into English. The research examines the semantic features of figurative expressions in the classical text, the degree of their re-creation in translation, and the challenges of preserving their artistic and aesthetic functions. Furthermore, the effectiveness of methods such as transformation, adaptation, and functional equivalence used in the translation process is highlighted through comparative analysis.
