THE ROLE AND USAGE OF PHATIC SPEECH ACTS IN THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE

This article is devoted to the role and functions of phatic speech acts in English communication and their areas of application. It also discusses the communicative competence of interlocutors and the importance of phatic expressions in establishing, maintaining, and terminating communication. Furthermore, the article is enriched with comparative examples from both English and Uzbek languages, highlighting their linguistic and cultural specificities.
