THE CONCEPT OF COLLOCATION AND ITS ROLE IN LEXICOGRAPHIC STUDIES

This article explores one of the most pressing issues in linguistics — collocations, their nature, and the characteristics of their representation in lexicographical sources. It analyzes the essence of the concept of "collocation", its distinctive features from phraseological units and free word combinations, as well as the role of collocations in modern lexicographical practice, specifically within Uzbek and global lexicography. Furthermore, the paper highlights the methodological aspects of identifying and incorporating collocations into dictionaries based on text corpora.
