ESP THEORY AND ITS HISTORY, PEDAGOGICAL FOUNDATIONS OF INTEGRATING ACADEMIC READING AND WRITING SKILLS INTO EDUCATION

This article provides a comprehensive analysis of the history of the formation of the theory of English for Specific Purposes (ESP), its stages of development, and its role in modern pedagogical practice. The article scientifically substantiates the origin of the ESP concept, its distinguishing features compared to General English language teaching, as well as the pedagogical foundations for integrating academic reading and writing skills into ESP programs. During the research, the theoretical and methodological foundations of ESP education, the methodology of needs analysis, the principles of course design, and the possibilities of using authentic materials in the educational process were examined. The article has practical significance for higher education institutions, language centers, and teachers of professional English.
