METHODOLOGY OF USING MS EXCEL SOFTWARE TOOLS IN ORGANIZING STUDENTS’ INDEPENDENT WORK BASED ON STEAM EDUCATION TECHNOLOGY

The article presents the methodology of comprehensive use of Microsoft Excel software package capabilities in organizing independent work of higher education students in the subject “Information Technologies” based on STEAM education technology. In accordance with G. Yakman’s STEAM doctrine, Excel is analyzed in the context of five STEAM components - science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. The study proposes a four-stage methodology for organizing students’ project-research activities based on Excel’s extended functional capabilities (PivotTable, Power Query, Power Pivot, Solver, VBA macros, Data Analysis ToolPak). The results of the pedagogical experiment conducted within the framework of the research confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed methodology: the formation of computational-analytical competencies in the experimental group was 27.3% higher than the indicators of the control group.
