THE INFLUENCE OF SUFI REPRESENTATIVES ON SOCIO-POLITICAL LIFE: THE CASE OF MAKHDUM-I AZAM AND THE DAHBEDIY LINEAGE

This article examines the role of Sufi representatives in the socio-political life of the Bukhara Khanate in the 16th–18th centuries, with particular focus on the activities of Makhdum-i Azam Dahbedi and his descendants. Drawing on historical sources, the study analyzes the mechanisms through which Sufi figures influenced state governance, the policies of rulers, and the maintenance of social stability. It also highlights the participation of the Dahbediy lineage not only in religious and educational spheres but also in political processes, including their relationships with rulers and their position within regional power structures.
