TRADE UNION MOVEMENT AS AN OBJECT OF RESEARCH IN THE 1950S–1980S (A CASE STUDY OF KARAKALPAKSTAN)

This research is devoted to the scientific analysis of the formation, development, and role of the trade union movement in Karakalpakstan during the 1950s–1980s. The study examines the activities of trade unions in protecting workers’ rights, improving labor conditions, developing the social welfare system, and increasing production efficiency. It also analyzes the close relationship between trade unions and Soviet state policy, their role in organizing cultural and educational events, and their influence on the social activity of the population. Based on archival documents, statistical data, periodical publications, and historical literature, the research investigates the activities of trade unions in the fields of industry, agriculture, education, and healthcare in Karakalpakstan. In addition, the practical role of trade unions in strengthening labor discipline, encouraging workers, and improving living standards is evaluated. The results of the study serve as an important scientific source for understanding the socio-political history of Karakalpakstan. Furthermore, the research highlights the role of trade unions in involving youth and women in production processes, strengthening labor protection, and organizing recreational facilities. The author also analyzes the regional characteristics of trade union organizations, their adaptation to local lifestyles, and their participation in solving social issues. The conclusions of the study contribute to a deeper understanding of regional social processes and have significant theoretical and practical importance for historians, researchers, and students from a modern perspective.
