THE HISTORY OF THEATRE IN THE CITIES ON THE RIGHT BANK OF THE AMU DARYA RIVER

Theater is one of the oldest and most complex forms of human cultural development, formed in close connection with the social, religious, and aesthetic life of society. In the history of ancient civilizations, performing arts served not only as a means of entertainment but also as an important mechanism for religious rituals, political propaganda, and the preservation of collective memory. Central Asia, particularly the territory of ancient Bactria, as a geocultural space where Eastern and Western civilizations intersected, created a significant foundation for the formation and transformation of various theatrical traditions. The purpose of this study is to analyze the formation, developmental stages, and transformation of theatrical art in the cities on the right bank of the Amu Darya under conditions of cultural syncretism based on historical and archaeological materials. The results of the study contribute to determining the role of ancient Bactria in the development of world theater history.
