DIFFERENCES BETWEEN ENGLISH AND UZBEK IN TRANSLATING SUBJECT, VERBAL AND SENTENTIAL ELISION

This article analyses the linguo-pragmatic differences in translating English subject, verbal, and sentential elision into Uzbek, using authentic examples drawn from everyday oral communication. The study demonstrates that the analytic nature of English and the agglutinative morphology of Uzbek directly affect elision in translation: verbal elision rarely transfers into Uzbek, while sentential elision remains active in both languages. Functional equivalence — preserving communicative effect rather than structure — serves as the primary translation strategy.
