THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS AND CHRONOLOGY OF GENDER STUDIES IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LINGUISTICS

This article examines the theoretical foundations, historical development, and major stages of gender studies in English and Uzbek linguistics. Particular attention is paid to the deficit, dominance, difference, and dynamic constructivist theories of gender linguistics and their role in explaining gender-related features of language and speech. The paper also discusses the emergence of gender studies in Uzbek linguistics, linguistic means of expressing gender, and contemporary trends in gender-oriented research. The findings contribute to a better understanding of the mechanisms through which gender is represented in language systems and discourse.
