AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF ADAPTATION STRESS, PSYCHOLOGICAL TRAUMA, AND ADAPTIVE RESOURCES AMONG MIGRANT WOMEN

This study empirically examines age- and education-related differences in adaptation stress, trauma-related responses, and adaptive resources among women engaged in international labour migration. The cognitive, emotional, and behavioural indicators analysed included catastrophizing, learned helplessness, threat overestimation, emotional discomfort, maladjustment, escapism, internal locus of control, susceptibility to external control, and the defensive mechanisms of compensation, rationalization, and personalization. Education did not function as a uniformly protective factor. Women with bachelor’s and master’s degrees showed more pronounced status-occupation incongruence, compensatory defences, maladjustment, and dependence on external conditions, possibly reflecting overqualification and restricted professional self-realization.
