AN ONOMASIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS OF PLANT NAMES IN UZBEK, TURKISH, AND RUSSIAN LANGUAGES

This article presents a comparative onomasiological analysis of plant names in Uzbek, Turkish and Russian. The study examines the naming features that underlie the formation of phytonyms, including colour, shape, smell, taste, place of growth, useful properties and external appearance of plants. Particular attention is paid to the common and distinctive characteristics of plant names in the three languages and to their connection with folk knowledge of nature, traditional ways of life and national worldviews. The findings show that plant names are not merely lexical units, but also important linguistic means that reflect people’s observations, practical experience and cultural memory.
