FUTUWWAT-NAMAS AND THEIR PLACE IN THE LITERARY HERITAGE OF THE EAST

This article examines the historical development, genre characteristics, and the close relationship of futuwwatnāmas with Sufi doctrine, as well as their significance in the literary and spiritual heritage of the East. It also explores the evolution of the futuwwa tradition on the basis of Islamic ethical values and Sufi philosophy, highlighting both its theoretical and practical dimensions. Furthermore, the study analyzes futuwwatnāmas composed in Arabic, Persian, and Turkic, with particular emphasis on Husayn Voiz Koshifi’s Futuvvatnomayi Sultoniya (The Sultan’s Book of Futuwwa), as well as widely circulated craft treatises, focusing on their ideological, artistic, educational, and spiritual characteristics.
