IMPROVING THE METHODOLOGY FOR DEVELOPING THE PROFESSIONAL AND PRACTICAL COMPETENCE OF FUTURE SPEECH THERAPISTS

This paper examines the pedagogical and methodological foundations for improving the methodology of developing the professional and practical competence of future speech therapists. Particular attention is paid to integrating theoretical knowledge with practical activities and developing students’ abilities to identify, diagnose, correct, and prevent speech disorders. The professional and practical competence of future speech therapists is characterized through the interrelationship of motivational, cognitive, diagnostic, correctional-practical, communicative, and reflective components. The paper also describes the educational potential of professional case studies, problem-based situations, simulation activities, speech therapy training, practice-oriented projects, and digital learning tools. A methodological approach aimed at considering students’ individual educational needs and developing their abilities to make independent professional decisions, design correctional and developmental sessions, and reflectively evaluate their own performance is proposed. The improved methodology contributes to preparing future speech therapists for effective professional activity in real educational and correctional settings.
