METHODOLOGICAL POTENTIAL OF THE CONTRASTIVE METHOD IN IDENTIFYING LINGUISTIC LACUNAE

This article examines the methodological potential of the contrastive method for identifying linguistic lacunae. It outlines the stages of establishing a common basis of comparison, determining full, partial, and zero correspondence, and classifying lexical, grammatical, semantic, and pragmatic gaps. The method is illustrated through English and Uzbek examples.
