Abstract

The article provides a systematic analysis of the repair and restoration processes of historical and architectural monuments in Shahrisabz between 1991 and 2024. The study chronologically examines the main stages of state policy during the independence period and the history of the restoration of major monuments, including the Ak-Saray Palace, Dorut-Tilovat and Dorus-Saodat complexes, the Kok-Gumbaz Mosque, the Hazrati Imam complex, and other significant heritage sites. Drawing on materials from scientific and practical conferences, international anniversary events, the regulatory and legal framework, and international cooperation practices, the article identifies the achievements and challenges associated with preserving the city’s cultural heritage. Based on the analysis of legal and regulatory documents, scholarly literature, periodical publications, and archival materials, the author formulates independent conclusions concerning the restoration and preservation of Shahrisabz’s historical heritage.
