Abstract

This article analyzes the formation of the female image in Uzbek folklore, its traditional artistic interpretation, and its transformation in contemporary folkloric thought. It examines the semantic and artistic functions of such female figures as the mother, beloved, daughter-in-law, young woman, wise woman, faithful wife, and heroine represented in folk epics, fairy tales, legends and narratives, songs, proverbs, and sayings. The study considers the forms through which qualities traditionally associated with female characters—beauty, loyalty, patience, love, wisdom, and self-sacrifice—are expressed in folklore.
