Abstract
The article analyzes the foundation of the city of Navoi and the initial stage of its development in the 1950s–1960s using historical-chronological and systematic approaches. The emergence of the city is examined in connection with the development of the mineral resources of the Kyzylkum Desert, the discovery of the Uchkuduk deposit, and the establishment of industrial, water, energy, and transport infrastructure. The study also analyzes the establishment of the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combine (NMMC), the city’s master plan, residential construction, and the activities of representatives of the Leningrad school of architecture.
