"TURAN" HISTORICAL SPACE AS A CATEGORY

This article analyzes the formation of the concept of “Turan” as a historical-spatial category. Particular attention is paid to the geopolitical, ethnopolitical, and cultural processes that took place in Central Asia during the fourth to sixth centuries and to their influence on the historical meaning of the concept of Turan. The study also examines the political, ethnic, and cultural relations between Turan and Iran, as well as the representation of their interaction and confrontation in historical sources. The article reveals that the term “Turan” functioned not only as a geographical designation but also as a concept denoting a specific historical, ethnocultural, and political space. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the historical evolution of the concept of Turan and its significance in the historical consciousness of Central Asia.
