Abstract
This article analyzes the lexical-semantic features of terms denoting blood relationships and kinship ties established through marriage in the Khorezm dialects of Uzbek. Kinship terms are regarded as important ethnolinguistic units that reflect the historical development, family relationships, social structure, customs, and traditions of a people. The study examines the semantic scope, semantic relationships, and usage characteristics of such lexical units found in the Khorezm dialects as ota, ona, aka, uka, opa, singil, bobo, buvi, amaki, tog‘a, xola, amma, jiyan, kuyov, kelin, qaynata, qaynana, qayinaka, qayinuka, quda, and qudag‘ay. Through the semantic classification of terms denoting blood kinship and kinship by marriage, the study identifies the distinctive features of the Khorezm dialects and demonstrates how these linguistic units reflect the family values and national-cultural worldview of the people.
