ПРОБЛЕМЫ ИСПОЛЬЗОВАНИЯ ВОДНЫХ РЕСУРСОВ В СЕЛЬСКОМ ХОЗЯЙСТВЕ ЗАРАФШАНСКОЙ ДОЛИНЫ (50–80-Е ГОДЫ XX ВЕКА)

This article examines that in the 1950s–1980s in Uzbekistan, in order to develop agriculture and increase cotton production, the освоение of new lands in the Zarafshan Valley (within the territories of present-day Samarkand, Navoi, and Bukhara regions) was accompanied by the construction of major hydraulic engineering structures, such as the Kattakurgan, Kuyimazar, and Tudakul reservoirs, as well as the Amu-Bukhara Canal. It is noted that, along with economic benefits, these projects had a negative impact on the environment. In particular, the inefficient use of water resources during this period led to a rise in groundwater levels, soil salinization, and pollution of water resources, which in turn resulted in the emergence of a complex ecological situation in the region.
