abstract: The article presents a comparative analysis of the epistemological foundations of the ethics of Immanuel Kant and Al-Ghazali. The main objective is to identify the theoretical differences between rationalist (deontological) and spiritual-intuitive approaches and to explore their integration potential within contemporary philosophical discourse. The paper examines Kant’s interpretation of moral cognition as an a priori, universal, and reason-based system, highlighting his concept of the categorical imperative as the logical and normative basis of moral decisions. At the same time, Al-Ghazali’s doctrine emphasizes the connection between moral knowledge and spiritual purification of the heart, intention, and inner experience. The study compares two paradigms of moral cognition—rational-normative and spiritual-intuitive epistemologies—revealing their strengths and limitations. Drawing on modern philosophical approaches, including the principle of complementarity and dual-process theory, the necessity of integrating these approaches is substantiated.
