title: SEMANTIC ANALYSIS OF TIME EXPRESSIONS IN ENGLISH AND UZBEK LANGUAGES

abstract: This article analyzes the semantic and stylistic features of expressions denoting time in the English and Uzbek languages. It substantiates that time-related expressions are formed in close connection with speakers’ perception of reality, their life experience, and national thinking. The paper examines the semantic structure of these expressions, the ways of forming figurative meanings, their expressive and emotional potential in speech, as well as their usage across different functional styles. In addition, the article demonstrates, through examples, the figurative representation of such concepts as the rapid passage of time, delay, the value of a moment, and changes in an era. The results of the analysis show that time-related expressions constitute an important layer of the phraseological system of the Uzbek language and reflect the worldview and national-cultural experience of the people.
