Despite numerous studies, the category of aspect remains one of the most complex issues in Russian grammar, as it combines grammatical, lexical-semantic, and communicative characteristics of an action. Special attention is paid to the opposition between perfective and imperfective aspects, their semantic functions, the ways aspectual pairs are formed, and the role of aspect in speech usage. The study employs descriptive, comparative, semantic, and contextual methods of analysis. The findings demonstrate that the aspect category is not limited to expressing completeness or incompleteness of an action, but also serves as an important means of conveying processuality, resultativity, repetition, duration, singularity, and communicative orientation of an utterance. The practical significance of the study lies in the possibility of applying these findings in teaching Russian as a foreign language.2026-01-01Article
