abstract: This article presents a comparative analysis of the semantic and pragmatic features of proverbs in German and Uzbek. Proverbs are studied as important paremiological units that reflect the historical experience, national worldview, moral beliefs, and cultural values of a people. The research examines the semantic structure, imagery, evaluative meaning, and communicative functions of German and Uzbek proverbs in speech. Special attention is paid to the pragmatic potential of proverbs in expressing advice, warning, criticism, generalization, and regulation of social relations. The results of the analysis show that proverbs in both languages reflect similar universal human values; however, they differ in their figurative expression and communicative usage due to national and cultural specificity.
