      "abstract": "The article examines the main principles of spelling compound words in contemporary Russian in accordance with the academic orthographic norm. Drawing on theRules of Russian Orthography and Punctuationedited by V. V. Lopatin, normative orthographic dictionaries and reference books by D. E. Rozental, as well as university\u2011level manuals on morphemics and orthography, the paper analyses the structural characteristics of compound words, the use of interfix vowelsoande, and the distribution of solid and hyphenated spelling of compound nouns and adjectives, including cases of variation and non\u2011standard spellings in modern texts. Special attention is paid to the role of academic codification and dictionary fixation in resolving controversial orthographic cases. A separate section of the article focuses on methodological aspects of teaching the spelling of compound words at school and university level: it describes interactive forms of work (classification tasks, online exercises, work with intentionally distorted texts, mini\u2011projects on compiling a dictionary of compound words) and shows how reliance on codifying sources can be integrated into the practice of teaching Russian orthography.",
