The text is examined within the framework of linguistic pragmatics; specific patterns of explicit and implicit expression of the phenomenon of fear are identified, and the rules related to its semantic, syntactic, and pragmatic mechanisms are clarified. Fear can be conveyed to the reader not only as an internal feeling but also through external circumstances associated with events and the surrounding environment.
