Within the framework of speech act theory, the communicative essence of commissives, the speaker’s commitment to a future action, and the functions of these acts in communication are examined. The study explores the pragmatic interpretation of commissive speech acts, their dependence on context, their relation to politeness strategies, and their practical use in English through examples.
