	bibo:abstract "This article examines the main criteria and functions of literary psychologism and gender identity through a comparative literary analysis. The aim of the study is to identify the artistic manifestations of these concepts based on Virginia Woolf’s novel Mrs Dalloway, the essay A Room of One’s Own, Salomat Vafo’s novel The Woman Searching for Herself, and the short stories The Sacred Place and The Train, as well as to reveal the typological similarities between the prose of the two writers. The research employs comparative-typological, psychoanalytic, biographical-contextual, and hermeneutic methods. The findings demonstrate that both Woolf and Vafo portray women not as passive characters but as independent individuals with their own inner world, personal conflicts, and freedom of choice. The comparative analysis identified four major typological similarities: (1) the central role of the female protagonist; (2) the predominance of the interior monologue; (3) the representation of gender identity through social conflict; and (4) the tension between personal freedom and social roles. At the same time, the study reveals that Woolf’s artistic vision is rooted in the individualistic tradition of English modernism, whereas Vafo’s prose reflects the collective value system of modern Uzbek literature. The scientific novelty of the study lies in presenting the first comparative analysis of literary psychologism and gender identity within the contexts of English modernism and contemporary Uzbek prose."^^xsd:string;
