%X This article pays special attention to the problems of Uzbek linguistics, in particular, the issues of giving toponyms in historical works. The purpose of the study is to study the specific features of toponyms in historical works, in particular, in Muhammad Salih's "Shayboniynoma" based on the analysis of the features of the language of toponyms and spelling problems. The following scientific analysis methods were used in the study: linguistic description, system, statistical, contextual analysis methods. The method of linguistic analysis was used in the analysis of scientific literature on the topic of the study. The results of the study made it possible to develop the following scientific and practical conclusions and recommendations: Analysis of toponyms in the "Shayboniynoma" helps to regulate problems related to spelling and write correctly. In particular, in Uzbek linguistics, such issues as the relationship between historical and modern toponyms, the specific features of historical toponyms are of relevance; The presence and reflection of historical toponyms in the toponymy of the Uzbek language was manifested in the following ways: the Uzbek language occupies an important place in the daily life of the people, the phonetic changes of toponyms with the development of the Uzbek language are reflected in writings and become popular. Historical toponyms in Muhammad Salih's work "Shayboniynoma" served as illustrative material for the article.
