description: This article presents the scientific and methodological foundations for developing future primary school teachers’ understanding of combinatorial concepts based on the competency-based approach. It examines the role of combinatorial elements in primary mathematics education, their importance in developing the mathematical and professional competencies of future teachers, and modern methods of teaching combinatorics. The study explains the essence of the competency-based approach to teaching combinatorial concepts and substantiates the methodological opportunities for organizing an effective educational process. Particular attention is paid to the didactic advantages of using problem-based learning, interactive teaching methods, visual models, tree diagrams, tables, and real-life tasks in the formation of combinatorial concepts. In addition, the article analyzes the opportunities for developing students’ logical thinking, analytical and generalization skills, mathematical modeling abilities, and independent decision-making through solving combinatorial problems.
