N2  - Space and time are fundamental categories of human cognition reflected in language through lexical and phraseological expressions. This study examines the linguistic and pragmatic features of spatial and temporal expressions in English and Uzbek. Using a comparative corpus-based approach, 600 examples from literary, journalistic, and conversational texts were analyzed. The findings show that both languages employ metaphorical extensions from spatial to temporal domains; however, Uzbek relies more on culturally embedded expressions and contextual deixis, while English favors structurally fixed lexical patterns. Spatial and temporal expressions serve not only referential functions but also pragmatic purposes such as politeness, evaluation, emphasis, and discourse organization. The study highlights the interaction of lexical semantics, pragmatics, and cultural cognition in the representation of space and time.
