      "abstract": "The article analyzes Odil Yoqubov\u2019s novellas and Henry James\u2019s short fiction from a comparative-typological perspective. The study focuses on the compositional compactness of short epic genres, psychological representation, moral choice, and the conflict between the social environment and individual freedom. In Yoqubov\u2019s Muqaddas, Qanot juft bo\u2018ladi, and Billur qandillar, the characters\u2019 inner experiences related to conscience, responsibility, love, and social duty are closely intertwined with the realities of national life. In Henry James\u2019s Daisy Miller, The Aspern Papers, and The Turn of the Screw, psychological states are revealed through limited perspective, narrative ambiguity, and multiple interpretations. The comparative analysis demonstrates not only the generic affinities between the works of the two writers but also differences in their moral criteria and narrative strategies.",
