      "abstract": "The article examines the evolution of axiological dominants in A. P. Chekhov\u2019s late works. The study aims to trace changes in the writer\u2019s value orientations in his works of the 1890s and 1900s and to determine the nature of this evolution. Axiological, hermeneutic, historical-genetic, and comparative methods of analysis are employed. The study reveals that Chekhov\u2019s late works demonstrate a shift in axiological emphasis from predominantly social criticism toward the affirmation of spiritual and existential values, above all the unconditional value of human life and authentic personal existence. It is argued that this evolution does not constitute a rupture but rather a deepening of the stable core of values underlying the writer\u2019s artistic world.",
