The digital transformation of industry and the widespread adoption of the Industry4.0 concept require improvements in the professional training of engineering students. The Internet of Things (IoT) is a promising technology that enables the integration oftheoretical, software, hardware, and project-based learning for future professionals. Theaim of this study is to identify the pedagogical potential of IoT technologies for developingstudents’ professional competencies and to propose a structural and methodologicalapproach to their integration into the educational process. The study is based on acomparative and content analysis of Scopus-indexed scientific publications addressing IoTeducation, project-based learning, remote laboratories, Industry 4.0, and the practicaltraining of engineering professionals. The findings indicate that the effective use of IoT inprofessional training should focus not on studying individual devices or softwareplatforms, but on enabling students to complete the integrated cycle of “data collection –transmission – processing – analysis – decision-making – object control.” Based on theanalysis, five components of professional competence were identified: technical-systemic,software-analytical, information-network, project-research, and communicative-reflective. A four-stage model comprising diagnostic-motivational, instrumental-technological, project-integration, and assessment-reflective stages is proposed for theirdevelopment. The study substantiates the effectiveness of integrating IoT with project-based learning, practical laboratories, cloud platforms, data analytics technologies, andelements of machine learning.",
