It analyzes the role ofgeoinformation technologies in professional activities in the context of digitaltransformation, the pedagogical features of teaching them in higher education, andcontemporary methodological approaches. The study comparatively examines thepotential of systemic, competency-based, activity-oriented, constructivist, and digitallearning approaches to GIS education. The analysis identifies the interrelationshipbetween the goal-oriented, content-related, activity-technological, and outcome-basedcomponents of the GIS teaching process. The study substantiates the need to integratetheoretical knowledge, digital tools, and practical project activities in order to developfuture specialists’ knowledge, practical skills, and professional competencies in designinggeographic information systems. The findings provide a theoretical and methodologicalfoundation for further improvement of GIS teaching methodology.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-08-14</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mods:mods>
