Human freedom, dignity, intellectual potential, rights, and individual autonomy are examined as fundamental principles of humanistic thought. The study comparatively analyzes how the humanistic ideas of the Renaissance were enriched by the concepts of rationalism and natural rights during the Enlightenment and how the principles of individual freedom, equality, and the rule of law subsequently developed within liberalism. The findings substantiate the theoretical significance of Western humanism in the formation of modern human rights and democratic values. date: 2026-01-01 date_type: published id_number: OJS:2318 full_text_status: none publication: Scientific and innovative research in the social and humanitarian sphere volume: 3 number: 8 pagerange: 79-84 refereed: 1 issn: 3060-5059 citation: Burliyev, Umid (2026) WESTERN HUMANISM: THE EUROPEAN RENAISSANCE, THE ENLIGHTENMENT, AND LIBERAL IDEAS.
