It argues that a terrorist should not be understood as representing an innate or universal psychological type, but rather as a subject formed at the intersection of socialization, identity transformation, ideological influence, and group relations. Globalization is interpreted not as a direct cause of terrorism but as a factor that transforms its social environment, communication opportunities, forms of belonging, and mechanisms of transnational influence. Using Al-Qaeda and ISIS as examples, the article also demonstrates how transnational terrorism operates by linking an individual?s local identity to a broader transnational collective identity.
