Through relevant examples, the study distinguishes an equonym from an ordinary synonym and explains its nature as a coordinate unit within a particular general conceptual category. The main features of equonymic relations are examined on the basis of terminological systems, particularly linguistic terminology, as well as units of general vocabulary. The semantic characteristics of the terminological elements “equo-” and “-onym,” the intersections of equonymy with hyperonymy and hyponymy, and the simultaneous participation of a single linguistic unit in different types of semantic relations are discussed. Drawing on the scholarly views of I. Ermatov, the article summarizes the place of the concepts of equonym and equonymy in Uzbek linguistics.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_2158"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_2158_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
