Emotional and expressive units used by commentators play an important role in establishing communicative interaction with the audience, evaluating sporting events, and verbally representing national and cultural values. This article provides a comparative analysis of the linguocultural features of emotional and expressive units occurring in the speech of English- and Uzbek-speaking sports commentators. The study employs descriptive, comparative-typological, linguocultural, componential, and pragmatic methods of analysis. The findings indicate that individual evaluation and verbal minimalism predominate in the speech of English-speaking commentators, whereas Uzbek-speaking commentators tend to employ collective emotionality, imagery, and culturally specific evaluative devices. The findings contribute to the development of sports media linguistics, pragmalinguistics, and linguocultural studies.
