Particular attention is paid to parallel ethnonyms, tribal structures, and interethnic relations among the Uzbek, Karakalpak, Turkmen, and Kazakh populations. The article provides a historiographical overview of interpretations of the interaction between nomadic and sedentary populations in the Khorezm oasis across various scholarly traditions.
