Given the retrospective limitations of traditional reflective models (D. Kolb, G. Gibbs, D. Schön) and their insufficient consideration of cognitive load in non-standard pedagogical situations, the study integrates elements of Cognitive Load Theory (J. Sweller) and design-oriented thinking (design thinking and introspection). The study develops and theoretically substantiates the VMXJNR (Situation–Motivation–Behavior–Process–Outcome–Reflection) conceptual model aimed at developing students’ professional competence. The model is structured into two interconnected blocks: Block 1 (V–M–X) functions as a “cognitive trigger” that filters external information load, while Block 2 (J–N–R) serves as a “cognitive amplifier” that transforms localized experience into systematic professional expertise. The model facilitates a transition from retrospective approaches to a proactive and adaptive methodology in higher education and contributes to the development of metacognitive monitoring skills.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-01-01</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mods:mods>
