YAKUBOV’S NOVEL “ULUGBEK’S TREASURE” %U https://arxiv.publishscience.uz/2290/ %V 3 %X The article examines the relationship between historical events and human destinies in Adyl Yakubov’s historical novel Ulugbek’s Treasure. The relevance of the study lies in the need to consider historical prose not only as a reconstruction of the past but also as an artistic interpretation of the impact of political conflicts on individuals and society. Particular attention is given to the human condition at a historical turning point, when political and religious conflicts determine the characters’ life choices, disrupt their established way of life, and compel individuals to assume responsibility for preserving cultural and scientific heritage. Special emphasis is placed on the novel’s system of characters, particularly Mirzo Ulugbek, Ali Kushchi, Kalandar Karnaki, and Khurshida Banu. The study examines the interaction between two narrative lines—the story of the ruler and the destinies of fictional characters—which are interconnected through the figure of Ali Kushchi. M. M. Bakhtin’s concept of the chronotope is employed as one of the principal analytical tools. The study demonstrates that the space of Samarkand, Ulugbek’s observatory, palace interiors, city streets, underground spaces, and roads acquire not only narrative but also semantic significance. It concludes that the historical catastrophe depicted in the novel is revealed through specific human destinies, while Ulugbek’s scientific legacy becomes a symbol of cultural memory and moral responsibility toward future generations.
