"abstract": "This article analyzes the stages in the formation and development of ancient history studies and archaeological research in Uzbekistan. It covers the earliest archaeological observations of the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, scientific expeditions conducted during the Soviet period, research carried out during the years of independence, and new methodological approaches in contemporary archaeology. Particular attention is paid to the role of archaeological sources in the study of Paleolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age, and ancient-period sites in Uzbekistan, as well as to major scientific expeditions and the scholarly legacy of prominent researchers.",
