The study is basedon the English for Specific Purposes (ESP) approach, which emphasizes that languageinstruction, rather than focusing solely on general communicative skills, should beoriented toward specific professional needs. The article examines five major functionalareas: information-cognitive, communicative-negotiation, analytical-writing,terminological-translation, and professional development functions. The language skillsand competencies specific to each area are identified. In addition, methodologicalchallenges associated with the implementation of these functions are analyzed, andrecommendations for overcoming them are proposed. The findings may be applied toimprove professionally oriented foreign language programs for economics students inhigher education institutions, as well as professional development programs forpracticing economists.</mods:abstract><mods:originInfo><mods:dateIssued encoding="iso8601">2026-08-14</mods:dateIssued></mods:originInfo><mods:genre>Article</mods:genre></mets:xmlData></mets:mdWrap></mets:dmdSec><mets:amdSec ID="TMD_eprint_2347"><mets:rightsMD ID="rights_eprint_2347_mods"><mets:mdWrap MDTYPE="MODS"><mets:xmlData><mods:useAndReproduction>
