The study employs comparative analysis, content analysis, systems analysis, and theoretical generalization. The concepts of communicative competence, interculturalcommunication, translation mediation, and tourist guiding are analyzed from anintegrative perspective. As a result, a structure of guide-interpreters’ professionalcompetence is proposed, comprising linguistic-communicative, translation-mediative,intercultural, subject-specific tourism, organizational-service, digital-information, andreflective-ethical components. The scientific novelty of the article lies in systematizingthese components according to their functional relationship with professional tasks andin developing an authorial definition of professional competence. The research findingscan be used to design educational modules, professionally oriented situational tasks, andassessment criteria for tourist guiding and interpreting activities. date: 2026-08-14 date_type: published id_number: IJCST:231 full_text_status: public publication: Modern scientific and technical research volume: 2 number: 3 pagerange: 335-339 refereed: 1 citation: Narzullayeva, Mohin (2026) THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL FOUNDATIONS FOR DEVELOPING THE PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE OF FUTURE GUIDE-INTERPRETERS.
